Dear Parents, every term the staff and I take an aspect of our mission statement and try to be intentional about it in our teaching practice. This term our focus is ‘academic excellence to the glory of God’. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the adjective ‘academic’ as ‘of, or relating to, performance in courses of study’. It is also interesting to note that ‘academic’ can mean ‘of, or relating to, literary or artistic rather than technical or professional studies’.
Dear Parents, the words of the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, written by Thomas Chisolm, are an accurate reflection of my gratitude to God for:
blessing us with a ‘normal’ term in pandemic times,
His sustaining provision for Tyndale Park Christian School over 40 years and
the lifegiving transformation that has happened over the years, every time students have accepted the salvation that is graciously ours in Jesus Christ.
Dear Parents, for the past 40 years, Tyndale Park Christian School has assisted parents by providing a Christ-centred education to the glory of God. The school’s founding fathers, and successive generations of trustees, have all been passionate about the importance of independent, Christian education. So, what is Christian education? Let me try to give an answer.
Dear Parents, last week I posted a short article on our school’s Facebook page about gratitude. It appeared in a recent Focus on the Family® e-newsletter. Its message on gratitude resonates with me because it is easy to feel ‘wronged’ when we don’t get what we feel ‘entitled’ to. The article reminds its readers that the Lord calls us to a different standard that has benefits both for our families and society in general:
Dear parents, if you are new to Tyndale Park Christian School, we want to extend you a very warm welcome. We also want you to know that you are an answer to our prayers: we have been asking the Lord to increase our numbers and believe that God, being the loving Father He is, has inspired each one of you to partner with us for the education of your child(ren). Returning families, you remain an answer to prayer, and it is an honour and privilege to continue partnering with you for your child(ren)’s education.
