On Wednesday 9 September, a group of our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award students began their first tramp.
We tackled a combination of tracks in the beautiful Waitākere Ranges, giving the students plenty of opportunities to put their map-reading and navigation skills to the test.
This was no easy journey. The group hiked 24 kilometres and climbed more than 1,000 metres in total. I greatly admire the students’ tenacity and determination; only those who experienced the tramp can fully appreciate the physical and mental strength required to complete such a challenge.
Well done to all the students involved. You should be very proud of yourselves.
