Remote learning will continue
Friday, 14 Aug 2020
Dear Parents and Students, by now you would have heard the government's announcement that COVID-19 Alert Level 3 will continue in Auckland until 11.59 pm on Wednesday 26 August. The cabinet will meet to review the decision on Friday 21 August and make an announcement on future COVID-19 Alert Levels on Monday 24 August. This decision will have the following impact on Tyndale Park Christian School:
- There will be an all-school online assembly on Monday 17 August, 8.50 am to 9.30 am. The URL for the assembly is: https://meet.google.com/hjt-hfmb-owv
- There will be no remote learning on Monday 17 August to give teachers time to prepare and/or arrange with the parents and students of the respective classes to pick up any materials from school that will be needed for remote learning. Teachers will contact you via the class's preferred communication platform if materials need to be picked up from school - please make sure that you check the class's communication tool diligently.
- Remote learning will start on Tuesday 18 August and continue until at least Wednesday 26 August. You can expect remote learning to focus on Bible, Reading and Writing, and Mathematics.
We recognise that this will be a challenging time for parents as you try to juggle the responsibilities of your full-time employment with encouraging your child(ren) to complete the tasks set for every day.
- Parents of Year 0 to 2 students will likely have to give their child(ren) significant support. Please contact your child(ren)'s teacher if tasks take a very long time to complete - we will endeavour to work with you to make remote learning as stress-free as possible.
- Please be assured that teachers of students in Year 3 and up will try their very best to create a learning programme that does not require your full-time supervision. If your children are in Year 3 and up, expect of them to work independently. Please do not complete assignments for them - if they struggle with a specific part of a task, help them identify what they are struggling with and give them tips on how to overcome their struggle but do not do the work for them. Once again, if tasks take a very long time to complete (more than a school day), contact the classroom teacher right away. We want to work in partnership with you.
Please be assured that we are intentionally creating a learning programme that will help students achieve the level of learning they are capable of by the end of this school year, accommodating for the unexpected changes in routine that have happened so far in 2020.
If you have any questions, please email us at admin@tyndalepark.school.nz or call 09 274 9771 during office hours. Your child(ren)'s classroom teacher will be in touch via email, text message or the communication platform of choice for your child(ren)'s class. We hope you have a restful weekend.
Yours faithfully
Barend Blom
