Notices for Week 5, Term 2, 2020

Monday, 11 May 2020

Dear parents and students, welcome to Week 5 of Term 2. On the one hand it feels like time has flown by very quickly and it is hard to believe that we are already starting the fifth week of remote learning. On the other hand, we know that for some members of our community the Prime Minister's announcement today about COVID-19 Alert Level 2 starting this Thursday has not come soon enough! The staff members at Tyndale Park Christian School are incredibly grateful to God for the way He has equipped all of us for the challenges we have faced, and will continue to face, as the world grapples to deal with the effects of COVID-19. We continue to pray for every family daily, praying that the Lord will provide in all of your needs as you seek His Kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

Important notices with regards to the move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2

  1. School will resume on-site, face-to-face on Monday 18 May. It is safe for all students to return to school (if they do not have a cold / flu). The programme will be adjusted significantly to make provision for the time required to administer the health and safety guidelines schools are encouraged to follow during Alert Level 2. Please be assured that we will do everything in our power to minimise risk to our community. A handout with more information will be made available next week to explain our efforts.
  2. At this stage, remote learning will be unavailable to families from next Monday. If you are interested in continuing with remote learning sometime in the future, please contact Mr Blom immediately at principal@tyndalepark.school.nz.
  3. Teachers are not able to meet with students this coming Friday, 15 May 2020, in order to have enough time to prepare their classrooms and the property for students' return on Monday 18 May. There are many health and safety routines that need to be set up and ironed out, and we need all staff members' undivided attention on Friday to ensure we can make a good start on Monday 18 May.
  4. Water fountains will most likely be unavailable to students during Alert Level 2. Please ensure students come to school on Monday 18 May with a water bottle for hydration and a personal towel to dry their hands after they have washed it.
  5. From Monday 18 May onwards, please keep students home if they have even the slightest sign of a cold or the flu. If parents or caregivers have a cold or the flu, please do not come to school under any circumstances. Rather contact us via telephone or email and we will make alternative arrangements to serve your request.
  6. If your financial situation has changed so much that you are not able to keep up with the payment of tuition fees, please contact accounts@tyndalepark.school.nz immediately.

Routines to practice at home

  • enabling good hygiene practices – regular washing and drying of hands and good cough and sneeze etiquette remain fundamental to preventing spread of illness such as colds, flu and COVID-19
  • ensuring people with COVID-19 symptoms stay away from school
  • maintaining physical distancing where practicable - in schools at Alert Level 2 this means children, young people, and staff maintaining a physical distance so that they are not breathing on or touching each other (important: there is no minimum distance requirement for schools at Alert Level 2)
  • keep track of people that enter your home and people you visit

Assembly

Unfortunately, the YouTube stream failed again this morning. I have tracked the reason for the failure down and I have uninstalled the offending piece of software! Hopefully, if I have to stream via YouTube again, it will work this time. Below, you will find the recording of this morning's assembly as well as the link to this morning's presentation.

In conclusion, may I encourage you with the words of Proverbs 18:10, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe".
