God is our refuge and fortress!
Tuesday, 10 Nov 2020
Dear parents and students, ‘He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust’ (Psalm 91:1-2). Room 10 reminded us a few weeks ago, when they hosted the week’s assembly, that God’s people must not be fearful. After all: our Protector is the One who has created everything! It was a great encouragement in light of the challenging year we have had.
Term 4 is speeding along. We are already at the start of Week 5 and rushing towards the middle of November! Here are a few short snippets of news and very important notices.
Results of Intermediate Team's Participation in Chesspower Tournament
Five of our Year 7 and 8 students participated in Chesspower's National Chess Competition at Alfriston College on Saturday 20 October. All of our students who participated received a certificate of merit. Joel and Clinton won 4 of the 9 games they played on the day, and Daniel, Christiaan and Cardin won 3 of the 9 games they played on the day. This was the first time we were able to enter a team in the Chesspower national competition. We are grateful to God for the opportunity and very proud of our team.
Results of Year 7-8 Teams' Participation in Vector EPro 8 Engineering Challenge for South Auckland
We entered two teams in the Vector EPro 8 Engineering Challenge for the South Auckland region. Twenty-four teams from South Auckland schools entered the competition. God enabled our teams to achieve the first and third place in the regional competition! We are incredibly grateful to the Lord for the result and very proud of our two teams. They have been invited to participate in the Auckland regional competition. Top teams from this competition will go through to the national competition.

Changes in school calendar
This year has been a challenging year and the teachers need to have time to reflect and plan for 2021 to ensure we can properly address students' learning needs in 2021 with all of the disruptions of 2020. So, it has been decided to make some changes to Events Calendar for 2020. Please read carefully:
- APO Brass and Puppets: Monday, 23 November
- Culture Fair: Thursday, 26 November, from 1 pm to 3 pm
- ACS Cross Country Tournament: Tuesday, 24 November. Rain check 25 November.
- End of Year Exams for Years 8 to 13: 23 to 26 November
- Teacher Only Day (no students at school): Friday, 27 November - this would have been the day the school goes to Parakai Springs; we still encourage families to go to Parakai Springs on that day, but the teachers will not be involved in the organisation of the event; every family will take responsibility of their own children and it is your choice whether you go to Pakarai Springs or not; if you do go, please bring us your Parakai Springs entry fee receipts for reimbursement.
- Auckland Cricket Quickhit Festival (Years 3-6 Girls): Thursday, 3 December (Lloyd Elsmore)
- Cultural Day: Tuesday, 8 December
- Thanksgiving Assembly: Friday, 11 December, 7.00 pm – compulsory for all students!
- Athletics Day: Monday, 14 December at Omana Park (Papatoetoe Athletics Club)
- Primary Wheels Day: Years 1 to 6 on Tuesday, 15 December
- School Year Ends: Wednesday, 16 December, 1.00 pm - staff will need the rest of that week to plan for 2021 since we will have an extra class in 2021! Praise God for our school's growth! God willing we will have a Year 1 (almost full), Year 2 (full), Year 3-4 (full), Year 5-6 (spaces available), Year 7 (spaces available), Year 8 (spaces available), Year 9-10 (full) and Year 11-13 class (almost full). If your child is already enrolled at Tyndale Park Christian School in 2020, a place is automatically reserved for the next year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
