Technology and our children

At Tyndale Park Christian School we want to equip our students with the skills, including digital technology skills, they need to bring glory to God as they embrace God's calling for their life, whatever career or ministry that may be.

TPCS does not have a BYOD programme. I do not intend instituting a BYOD programme. My experience and informal observations as an educational technology coach in two schools have shown that such a programme has unintended consequences that often compromises learning outcomes for students. At the same time, I am passionate about equipping our students with knowledge on how to solve problems with ALL tools at their disposal (including, but not necessarily needing to use, digital technology tools).

The following article summarises some of the current research on the use of digital technology in our families and our schools and has, in my opinion, some really good food for thought. I really encourage you to read the whole article.
