COVID-19 Alert Level 4 - 18 August 2021

Tuesday, 17 Aug 2021

Dear staff, parents and students, the prime minister announced just after 6 pm tonight that New Zealand will go to COVID-19 Level 4 Restrictions from midnight tonight. The COVID-19 Alert Level will be reviewed in 72 hours for all areas except Auckland, which will (at this stage) remain at Level 4 restrictions for 7 days.

Here is a video message from me in response to the announcement: https://youtu.be/eFFehuq7Lrk

There is no school at our facilities on Murphys Road from tomorrow until further notice. Here are a few important notices:

  • There will be no remote learning tomorrow, Wednesday 17 August. Teachers need the day to set their classes up and plan for remote learning. As you may remember from previous lockdowns, remote learning is quite different to face-to-face learning. Teachers may possibly be in touch tomorrow to test out digital communication channels to ensure students are ready to resume remote learning on Thursday, but that is up to individual teachers.
  • Remote learning will commence on Thursday 18 August. We will gradually ease into it. During remote learning, we intentionally scale back all learning to a focus on Bible, English and Mathematics. Other subjects may be offered as optional work at the teachers' discretion.
  • During remote learning, teachers are only available between 8:30 am to 3:30 pm on weekdays or at the times set by the classroom teachers. Please do not contact teachers for teaching and learning support outside of these hours.
  • We realise that some families may have trouble accessing teaching and learning materials digitally due to an insufficient number of internet-enabled devices at home or limited internet data. Please contact the classroom teacher if this is you. We will try to give you alternative education ideas for remote learning.
  • If you have any general questions, please contact us at admin@tyndalepark.school.nz or on our school mobile at 027 387 5998.

There are a number of remote learning resources that you can use on the Internet.

Now may the LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZQPifs2kjo)
